Mark:
Is from a long line of South Plains family farmers.
His life has always included a German Shepherd by his bed at night
and always
with him throughout his day.
Sandra:
Is a school teacher. who raised and showed German Shepherds
from her college years.
Her shepherds were always along
for daily horseback rides.
Kory
Was born into the love of quality puppies to share with other families.
Kory is an Agent for Aflac Insurance now,
but still is very active in the daily operations of AlphaTex.
Our dogs have always been
family members:
"From Rory the German Shepherd who went on our honeymoon.
to the three massive males that sleep by our bed each night."
each are first and foremost an individual love.
The Kennel is located on 5 acres of land on the top of a small hill
in the Texas Panhandle.
It is made up of 9 big barns with igloo dog houses and huge outdoor runs.
The Dogs take turns sharing extended free
runs on the farm.
AlphaTex Kennel was established in 2000, when Mark and Sandra realized that there was a limited resource for American families to purchase Quality, Healthy, Reasonably Priced Babies, to become totally spoiled family members.
In
the mid 1990s We
searched the internet for 6 months, before we found our beautiful GSD Shade, to become
our new family love.
While walking by the Mall pet shop, we were sadden by the poor quality, poor health and massive prices of the (puppy mill) puppies offered there.
Also having been involved in the dog show world we knew that
"quality"
dogs make perfect family pets.
But at the same time we also
recognized that the life of a show dog, is often endless hours in crates, exercise
pens, and miles and miles of travel. We knew that this was not the life we
wanted for our babies. Many of the top show dogs are in a crate, at dog shows often up to
35-40 weekends a year.
We decided that we wanted to offer families perfect family pets.
that are healthy and of the best quality bloodlines at a
fair price.
At the same time we wanted our puppies to have the perfect family life of just endless love and play. And their only real job would be,
to be a
loved, spoiled and valued family member.
Our breeding policy:
We breed our females with
the best male we have available that exhibits the quality and temperament that
we are striving to produce.
Our litters are planned very carefully with a great deal of forethought
going into each one.
Our females are each bred
usually not more then once a year, if that often. Our ladies are never bred until their
second heat cycle, often much later.
Our puppies are born in heated whelping boxes with both heat lamps and heat mats and carpet under them. In the summer it is air conditioners and fans instead. Our babies have the very best of food, care and medical attention. They go to their new homes only after they have been fully weaned, had their shots and wormed 3 times.
We usually do not ship our babies, but we can work out transportation arrangements to almost anywhere
